Lights Campsite for ScoutsI go camping with my Scouts at least monthly. I carry the SureFire M6 as my serious flashlight and it makes all the difference in the world at night. Lost items (and boys) are found. I also carry the D2 everyday at work. Why would an office worker need a flashlight? Well, the list goes on and on. There had been reports of a bear roaming the area.I was a staffer at a youth camp for my church up in Big Bear, CA. There had been reports of a bear roaming the area our campsite was in. One of my duties at camp was to make sure all of the kids were in their cabins at night. I was walking a group of 12-year old boys to their cabin when we saw a shadowy figure about 20 yards from their cabin. It began to slowly approach us and it soon became obvious that it was the bear. I motioned the kids to remain still and I shined my M3 at the bear. The bear stopped in it's tracks. I flashed my about 5 more times and it turned around and walked away. We were all relieved but I don't think we slept that well that night. |

Beast in the BushesJust the other day I was camping and I had to go home early and couldn't stay for the night. By this time it was really dark. I was hiking down the mountain in the thick forest when I heard a whole bunch of rustling in the nearby bushes. As soon as I turned my light on toward the noise, the intense brightness scared whatever was hiding in the brush. It burst out running in the opposite direction. I am so glad I had my SureFire that night; it made me feel safe. It's so bright I could see everything around me which turned out to be a real safety net for me. Thanks, SureFire!
