SureFire Torches and Flashlights

Self-Defence and Personal Safety

“They have a gun!”

While driving home one night with the wife and kids, we were harassed by some punks in an import hot rod. We were on a local canyon road with almost no other traffic. The other car was weaving behind us, riding on our bumper, and repeatedly pulling along side without passing. My wife screamed, “They have a gun!” The first thing I thought of was using my SureFire 6P flashlight to incapacitate and scare them. I handed the light to my wife who shined the light on the other car.

I had forgotten how bright that light really is. There was no way they could continue. They faded back and turned around. We called the sheriff when we reached home. They notified us that our description of the culprits matched those of a group that had vandalized numerous cars in our neighborhood as well as harassing some of the residents. The 6P has made an excellent addition to our safe traveling gear!

“Chalk one up for SureFire!”

SureFire has saved my butt TWICE. First time was a home-intrusion situation. I grabbed my ol' trusty 6P, and my Glock 23, and that light was bright enough to light up the back yard and the two guys trying to get some of my lawn equipment (at 2 a.m.!). Because of that light, they fled and not a shot was necessary.

The second time was when I was on duty, and my partner and I were chasing down two drug suspects. He dropped his duty Mag Lite (supposedly shock proof), and the damned thing went out. Fortunately, I had my 6P on my duty belt, and we were able to continue the search through the brambles and bushes. We lost one suspect but nabbed the other (who later squealed). Because of that 6P, one bad guy was off the street and two law enforcement men are safe. Chalk one up for SureFire!

There was no answer so I called 911

I live in a rural part of the county on the end of an 800 foot shared use driveway. On August 20th 1998 I went to bed about 10:30 pm. A little after 11, my teenage son woke me up and said that a truck with it's light off had driven to our end of the driveway, turned around and headed out. The truck had stopped at my neighbors house at the other end (near the county road) of the driveway and he had seen flashlights near some old cars my neighbor had parked in his yard. I got up, got dressed and called the neighbor's house to see if anyone was home there. There was no answer so I called 911. Now the 911 dispatch for my end of the county is done by the police department I work for, but my police protection comes from the sheriff's office. Our dispatcher tranferred the call to the county dispatcher and I said that there was a possible burglary going on. She said that the closest unit was nearly 30 miles away, but they'd see if a state unit was closer.

I went outside armed with my duty AR15 carbine which carries a SureFire 6v light. I picked a covered and concealed spot and proceeded to watch and wait. I didn't want to take any action on my own, but I didn't want to let them get away either. They finally made my decision for me, when they headed for their pickup with their loot. I illuminated them with the light on the AR15 and ordered them to FREEZE! I was about 30 yards away and the light worked great. I told them that I was an off duty officer and armed and ordered them to the ground and there we waited for the deputy to arrive. The light was bright enough and my cover was good enough that they told me they were uncertain I was really armed until I came out after the deputy arrived. Their story was that they had bought the car from my neighbor earlier and just decided to come get some parts off it. After we contacted my neighbor we discovered their story was true. However he wasn't at all pleased that they decided to do it after 11 PM when no one was home....

The bright SureFire light allowed me to challenge them from a covered and concealed position with enough authority that even though they weren't sure I was actually armed, they didn't want to take the chance.

Pit Bull on the Attack

It happened late one night. My dog was in heat, so she was staying in the house. I heard an animal scratching at my front door. When I opened it, I found a large pit bull demanding entry through my screen door. I sprayed him with water and shut the door. Several minutes later there was a rattling at the back gate in my back yard. I grabbed my SureFire and went out to investigate. As I got to the gate, it burst open and in came the pit bull. I shined the light right in his face. He stopped dead in his tracks and I slammed the gate in his face. Persistent mutt, eh?

Shooters Rely On SureFire

As an IDPA shooter I use it regularly during out shoots. I use the Harries technique and do reloads with my SureFire between my fingers. It is a lot faster than using a Stinger. As a point of fact, I would guess 90% of our shooters use one sort of SureFire or another.

Good Samaritan

I was on my way to work at about 2:30am and the road was wet. I was on a two-lane highway approaching a long bridge that takes a sharp turn to the right. As I rounded the corner I had to jam on my brakes and turn hard to avoid hitting a disabled car in the left lane. I called 911 while backing up to where the curve starts, so I could warn other drivers to move over. I turned on my hazard lights pulled out my E2e Executive light and started warning traffic to slow down and move over. I was there for about 15 minutes before police arrived.

If it wasn't for the reliability and brightness of my SureFire I wouldn't have been much help. Keep producing excellent products and I will keep buying SureFires. Thank you.

Lights Out for a Drunk

About three months ago, I was walking my dog like I do every night about 10 p.m. I always carry my gun and my SureFire 12ZM around my neck when I go out. After a couple of blocks, a man came toward me who looked to be very drunk and could hardly stand up. He wanted to pet my dog, but my dog wanted no part of him. I told the man to leave the dog alone, but he started yelling and cursing − at the dog, not me. He even told me, “Stay out of this. It’s between me and this dog.” I had enough and flashed 12ZM in his face. He yelled, cupped his face in his hands, fell over the curb, got up, and ran right into a light pole. It was great! I did not have to use my gun or my fists. Thanks a lot guys. You make a GREAT light!

Fends Off Robber

Without my SureFire 9N flashlight I couldn’t write this, because it just saved my life! I had just bought it (not so easy in Finland) and had it with me only to show it to my friend. I was walking in Helsinki town, and a very aggressive man (drunk) was about to rob me. I had little time to act. I was about to make a bad move (hit him with SureFire), but instead I just pointed it at him and pushed the button. Then I took a jog and walked away!! Thank You!
